Keeping the Memory
May 25th, 2009It’s Memorial Day, and I found this on Digg—it really got to me. At first I didn’t see anything special in the picture, but then I noticed the solitary tear coming down the boy’s cheek, and I thought about being in his position. If you look in the first picture, both brothers are upset… they clearly shared a special relationship. From his point of view, the kid said goodbye keeping the worst in mind, and then it actually happened. By the time the second picture was taken he was emotionally raw and empty. As cliché as it might sound, freedom is not free.
