Got a new Sapphire HD 3850 (ATI Video Card)
August 5th, 2008Yes, this is another one of those, "I’m going to show pictures of my computer" posts.
I got a new graphics card in the mail today. It’s a Sapphire HD 3850, which is a (you guessed it) ATI Radeon HD 3850 manufactured by Sapphire. The cool thing about this card, other than it uses PCI-express 2.0, is that the thing is fanless. Yesterday I had a fanless MSI card with an ATI Redeon HD 2600XT chip in it, so I was ready for an upgrade.
Here’s what came in the box. The card (which looks kick-ass) and an S-video to component, S-video to composite, and DVI to HDMI adapters. 
Alcohol-Wise, you make me cry softly in a corner.
August 4th, 2008As part of a feeble attempt to prevent oncoming freshmen from drinking, Virginia Tech, and I assume several other colleges, is making its students undergo "Alcohol-Wise", an online course geared towards educating students about the evils of alcohol. I know this because I just finished the damn thing, well… all except for the final test, which I just couldn’t bear to endure.
I’m going to be as honest now as on the course. I don’t drink. I sometimes take a couple sips of an "adult beverage" during thanks giving, but that’s it. During the last party I went to, my friends had a Nurf gun fight. This is where I am. Needless to say, I found this online course as nosiating as it was insulting to my intelligence.
This is why I’m going to put up screen shots of the damn course, along with the almost unbearably cheesy audio clips. It would be ridiculously funny if I weren’t the one taking the course.
The first thing I did was take this "e-CHUG" assessment to determine how much of a grip alcohol had on my life or whatever. Since my answers were all "no" or "none", I got a big thumbs up… literally. (Click to make the pictures bigger.)
