May seem old but seriously for the people with even the slightest of basic knowledge could achieve success with this project.

Well, it was a piece of cake that just got eat’n up by me. Your instructions couldn’t have been any better applied than they were. Thank you David great work, now my friend can enjoy his Razr and its now freedoms to explore areas never able to before this project was applied.

Have you hacked the V3M or flashed it from Verizon to Metro PCS. When you get the phone flashed at Metro you can’t send/rec pic text or use web. Any suggestions?

i did something wrong. when i was supposed to save the file to the phone saved the wrong one and now my computer won’t show my phone as being connected. says it can’t find the drivers for it

OK Call me stupid, but I was able to get through the seem re-write, and do not see any noticeable changes in my phone. My phone still works so I suppose I did not screw anything up, however, what i was trying to accomplish was that with my old phone, if i got a text or pix message I could save them as ringtones. With this one (Verizon carrier, Razr V3M manufacture date of 07/09/2007) I cannot do that, heck I cant even figure out how to get any ringtone I dont have to buy from verizon. Anyone with any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Hi… this is a good website … n continuation with Rajeev’s query posted on 20Aug2008, i want to add that my Verizon wireless phone worked perfectly fine with Tata Indicomm a CDMA service provider in India. But then, when i approached Reliance to program it for their network the support people have no clue what i am talking and i am pretty sure that i can make my motov3m will work with Reliance, provided that my ESN is added in their list of approved mobile devices of the Reliance network. However this is not possible since Reliance stores them info securely it might be possible to get a reliance phone, get its ESN and then have that ESN in the moto …. i am working on this now…. if somebody had already tried let me know….

Mavtak, I just wanted to say thanks for your time and effort on this documentation. Great job putting it together. But I do have one question, if unlocked, will I be able to use a sim card with my other provider?
I also have an HTC Universal phone that is “Unlocked” and would like to switch between the 2 if possible. Any Ideas?

useage of a CDMA phone with another CDMA carrier does not use an “unlocking” process like a GSM phone uses. Firstly you will want to find out if Reliance is a GSM or CDMA carrier. One thing to note is that a CDMA phone like the ones from Verizon are not compatible with a GSM carrier. Next thing to find out is if you will be able to flash the phone to that carriers firmware (or a generic Motorola flash) and have that carrier program your phone on their network for you. Sadly the phones from verizon that have the newest firmware 01.19.07 are not very easily flashed as the only current leaked firmwares available to flash with require that your phone use an ESN where as those phones with the newest verizon firmwares use a different type of identifier.
